Health Sciences

Careers in the healthcare industry are rewarding, both personally and professionally.  Unlike other industries, improvements in technology and declines in the economy do not have much of an effect on the demand for healthcare professionals.  Many people look to these types of careers for long-term job stability and the intrinsic rewards that come from caring for and helping people in need.

CAL Dental and Medical Health Science program students are trained in a variety of areas such as CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Medical Terminology.  Students train in our Nursing and Dental labs practicing their skills, applying their college coursework, and participating in clinical experiences.  Students have the opportunity to experience a wide range of occupations, including nurses, medical assistants, technicians, therapists and many other disciplines in hospitals, clinics, medical offices.

Work Site Learning

Work-Site Learning brings a whole new element to CAL. It is an opportunity for students to experience a taste of a medical professional career, and to really get a feel for the industry that they are interested in.

This is often the reason that they came to CAL in the first place.

During the school year our Medical students have the opportunity to take part in 4 work-site learning windows, and each of these windows will last up to 3 weeks.

During these windows, students will take part in at a local facility/business and provide all the help and positivity they can. Each student completes an structured pre-requisite program designed by our health sciences department in their “Applications and Practices II” class.

CAL’s Work-Site Learning Partners consist of:
